MFA setup using MS Authenticator

  1. Open web browser and go to https://aka.ms/MFASetup and login using univeristy account account_name@emu.ee (not e-mail).

  2. Enter your password and sign in.

  3. Click on “Next” to set-up MFA.

  4. Before clicking on “Next” again, go to Google Play store or Apple App store on your smartphone and search for “Microsoft Authenticator” and install it.

  5. After installation open “Microsoft Authenticator”. On first start-up click on “Agree”.

  6. Then click on “Skip” on the top right corner and then “Add account” in the middle of the screen.

  7. Click on work or school and account and select „Scan QR-code“.

  8. Give permission to MS Authenticator to access smartphoene's camera.

  9. Click „Next“ twice on computers web browser.

10. Scan the QR-code and click “Next”.

11. Smartphone will ask you to confirm the login, click “Confirm”.

12. Back on computer's web broswer you will be notified that MS Authenticator has been approved.

13. Click „Next and „Done“. Now MFA is successfully activated.

14. Next time you login on web browser there will be a checkbox that allows you to skip MFA for next 90 days. Use that for personal and trusted devices.
